Welcome to the family called First Baptist Church of Athens, Tennessee! 
We are a congregation with a strong heritage of ministering in the state of Tennessee, the United States, and around the world for the past 180 years, and we are excited about the prospect of serving in even greater ways in this new millennium.

Welcome to our family. First Baptist Church is a family comprised of people of all ages and coming from various backgrounds representing every walk of life. Yet, we are a family that loves and accepts each other.

We believe our worship services communicate love and acceptance. We do not want to be exclusive, but rather, inclusive. We want to worship in a heartwarming and Christ-honoring way that exalts God as God and encourages people to come to know Christ and become like Christ in their own lives.

The message we share is simple but distinctive. We seek to point others to Christ who is the personification of love and acceptance. He is the answer to life's problems, and He meets our every need.

In short, we are seeking to be a Christ-centered church with a people priority! Our vision is to be a church that is anchored in Christ, and also address the needs of people today. We are determined to create a family atmosphere where love and acceptance are communicated to all that come, whatever the circumstances.
