By Drew Byers John 12   We fulfill our ultimate purpose in life by seeking the glory of the Lord above our own glory.  

  1. We fulfill our purpose by seeing Jesus. (v20-23)
  2. We fulfill our purpose by dying like Jesus. (v24)
  3. We fulfill our purpose by losing our life to Jesus. (v25)
  4. We fulfill our purpose by serving Jesus. (v26)
    • We serve Jesus by following Him
    • When we serve Jesus, Jesus blesses us with His presence
    • When we serve Jesus, we will be honored by our Heavenly Father

  • Tonight at 5:00 pm, the Honduras Mission team will be reporting about their recent trip. We would love the opportunity to share how the gospel is going out from our church.

     

This Week:

 
  • The flowers on the Ingleside Portico entrance are provided and placed by Carey & Nancy Hicks, in honor of Prof and Ozelle Powers.
 
  • Mother’s Day Craft Night – Saturday, May 4th from 6-8 pm – Ages youth and up. This event will be held in the Annex. Light refreshments with coffee and tea provided. You will make both a card for Mother’s Day (or any occasion) and a spring wreath. This is an excellent opportunity to invite someone you’ve been encouraging to visit FBC Athens. You need to sign up so we can make sure to have enough supplies on hand. There is a sign-up sheet in the Welcome Center.

 

  • Deacons of the Week: Robert Lambert, Butch Smith, Charlie Byers, Ron Ring

     

Upcoming:

 

  • There will be an interest meeting for the Vancouver trip on Sunday, May 5th. The meeting will be in the Chapel following the morning service.

 

  • The CrossTraining year-end celebration will be Sunday, May 5th at 5 p.m. You will be treated to a showcase of ALL these kids have been doing all year in the various aspects of CT, culminating in a fun time of fellowship and ice cream!

 

  • The Deacon Nomination Process will begin in the next few weeks. Resident Members should expect to receive a deacon nomination ballot in the coming weeks. Please make every effort to return these ballots in a timely manner, and prayerfully consider who you would select to serve as a deacon here in our church.
