Gracious and Holy Heavenly Father, I come to you today with a thankful heart. I also come to you ashamed of my shortcomings, yet confident that you will be faithful to continue sanctifying me. I have been running well, but I have listened to direction I shouldn’t have. Please open my eyes to distinguish the truth from lies. Strengthen the desire in my heart to glorify you in everything I do. Strengthen my desire to love my brothers and sisters the way you love me. To be patient with them. To take the time to truly know them. Grow my local body into a force for truth and love in this world. Fill us with your Spirit each day so that we seek your ways above every other, so that we can bring the good news of your saving grace to our community and the world.
Thank you.

Prayer Share 126

Holy Father God, I come before you today in humility and awe of the wonders I see in your world. Every day you confirm your greatness in my life and those around me. Remind me all day that you are bigger than the problems I face. Prune me the way you see fit so that I will grow strong and health and flourish. Take away the parts of my life that are sapping energy from what is important. Grow the parts of my life necessary to love others the way you do. Keep me focused on the true goal you have set for me. Don’t let me become preoccupied with distractions that I have designed in myself. Provide the physical and spiritual nourishment I need to go forward with your plans. Don’t let me be discouraged when I don’t see your ultimate plan clearly. Allow me to touch others lives in a way that they see your glory and grow closer to you. I pray these things for my life today in your Holy and powerful name.

Prayer Share 125

Dear Father, open my eyes to see, open the eyes of all at First Baptist Athens to see the plentiful harvest that our Lord speaks about. Father, send us forth as reapers of the harvest that has been sown by others. How wonderful it is go and join with other believers as we reap of your harvest prepared for us before the foundation of the world. What an honor and a privilege.

Just as the Samaritan woman went and shared all that the Lord had said, Father, burden my heart to do the same to your glory and praise.

Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for the role model you provide for us, the instruction you give to us, and the opportunity to be a part of your kingdom building. I love you Lord Jesus, help me to love others with the love with which you loved me, help me to share your love with others, and to make you known to a lost and dying world.

Prayer Share 124

Prayer Share 123

Heavenly Father, You are so great. You have shown so much grace to me. In your infinite wisdom you provided a path back to you from all of our brokenness and loneliness. Too often I forget that. I get so busy with what I think is important that I ignore what is most important. Remind me daily that I have the privilege of sharing Your Grace with all those around me who are lonely and broken. Strengthen my courage and resolve. Remind me all though the day that I am to sow your seeds, regardless of what I think of the soil. Remind me that I can only see the surface of the soil. Do your work preparing the soil before I get to it. Refresh me when I feel too tired to sow. Comfort me when I confront fear and pain in order to sow. Grow a genuine love in my heart for the soil. Break down any anger or bitterness I have towards the soil. Help me to prepare for each day in the field and direct my hands as I cast seed. God, please allow me to see the harvest growing when I become discouraged. May your harvest in turn be used to seed new crops.

Prayer Share 122

Heavenly Father, I come before you today as your child. I am in awe that you sent your son as a sacrifice to adopt me. I ask that you would work in me today and teach me how to love like you do. Show me those around me who need love and give me the strength to share the inheritance you gave to me. Give me opportunities to share the gift of grace that you gave me. Let my life glorify you in everything I do. Clean me so that I can clearly mirror your love to others. Forgive me when I fall. Pick me up again so that I can show others how you care for us. Remind me as I go through my day that this is not the end game. Keep my focus on the true goal in life.

Prayer Share 121

Today’s scripture is Proverbs 28:12-14 from our
Father, give me a heart of confession today; a heart that desires you, a heart that wants to forsake all sin and pursue you. Let me live in your wonderful mercy today! I pray it for my family and for my church. Amen!!

Prayer Share 120

My Holy Heavenly Father; I come before you today in great humility. I strive to be holy and to serve you, but my offerings are not worthy because my life is still full of sin. Please give me a heart for you. Focus my days on learning to do good, seeking justice, correcting oppression, bringing justice to the fatherless and pleading the widow’s cause. I am so selfish. Take my focus off of me and put it on the things that will last for eternity. Give me a heart for all those in my life who are hurting. Bind up my wounds and heal me so that I can do your work. Give me the strength and desire to bring your love to the world. Wash my sins away and make me a light on a hill. Protect me as I go out to serve you and give me courage when I don’t have any in myself. Bring me back home when I stray and strengthen my resolve.
In the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, Amen

Prayer Share 119

Today’s Scripture, 1 Thessalonians 4:18 says to comfort one another with these words. Father, it seems like many brothers and sisters have fallen asleep, and families in our church have been grieving. Thank you for the reminder in v17 that, “we shall always be with the Lord”. Jesus, we look forward to always being with you. Come quickly, Lord Jesus.

Prayer Share 118

Today’s Scripture is 2 Peter 1:3-21 from our Prayer Guide (Week 19, Day 2):
My Father, I praise you today for your greatness and love. I praise you for everything you have done. I praise you for the comforts you have given me, and I praise you for the trials you have given me. I pray that I may use all the riches you have given me to glorify you and your kingdom here on earth. I pray that I may use all the trials you have given me to glorify you and bring honor to your name. Grow me through your grace and love. Remind me, in the middle of struggles that they were also given to me in grace, that even my hardships are another opportunity to show your power and love to the world. Remind me always that whatever I have been given is temporary and worthless if it doesn’t glorify you. Every action I take is meaningless if it is not done in your power. Melt me down in order to reveal your purity in me. Then reveal your glory to the world though my weakness. I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ.

Prayer Share 117

The SHOUT heard ’round the world!  Did you hear it?  I just finished meditating and praying through Colossians 1, and I just had to SHOUT! If you are a believer, you should read this scripture, and feel free to SHOUT!
Colossians 1:1-23 (ESV)

Colossians 1

Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother,

To the saints and faithful brothers in Christ at Colossae:

Grace to you and peace from God our Father.

Thanksgiving and Prayer

We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love that you have for all the saints, because of the hope laid up for you in heaven. Of this you have heard before in the word of the truth, the gospel, which has come to you, as indeed in the whole world it is bearing fruit and increasing—as it also does among you, since the day you heard it and understood the grace of God in truth, just as you learned it from Epaphras our beloved fellow servant. He is a faithful minister of Christ on your behalf and has made known to us your love in the Spirit.

And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.11 May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, forall endurance and patience with joy, 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. 13 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom ofhis beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

The Preeminence of Christ

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all thingshold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. 19 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, 20 andthrough him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven,making peace by the blood of his cross.

21 And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, 22 he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him, 23 if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister.

Paul’s Ministry to the Church

24 Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling upwhat is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church, 25 of which I became a minister according to the stewardship from God that was given to me for you, to make the word of God fully known, 26 the mystery hidden for ages and generations but now revealed to his saints. 27 To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. 28 Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. 29 For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.

Prayer Share 116

Praying for patience with myself and others.  Praying for a closer walk with God.  Even though I fail Him everyday, I feel God working in my heart and life daily.  THANK YOU JESUS!

Prayer Share 115

Today’s scripture is Deuteronomy 6:20-25 from our Prayer Guide (Week 17, Day 3)
Father, you “have brought us out from there, that you might bring us in”. You have brought us out of sinful bondage, so that you might bring us in to righteousness, to freedom in Christ. Help us not to turn back to those things that lead to death, but to turn toward you, who gives us life.

Prayer Share 114

The focus of the scriptures we are praying this week is to celebrate the mighty acts of God.  As I have read these, I was reminded that I had prayed and claimed these scriptures before.  I looked back in my journal and found several days in March, 2011 that I had spent in these scriptures.  I had written the scriptures down, and I had commented about the Holy Spirit leading me to pray these scriptures and how I knew that God intended to perform mighty acts in my own life and circumstances.

Now, almost five years later, I rejoice in the fact that our faithful God did indeed do what he told me through the scriptures.  God is faithful and true.  His Word does not return unto Him void!  It accomplishes the purposes for which He sends it out!

Thank you God for the great spiritual markers in my life.  Thank you for all you have done for me, and may my transformed life be a testimony to your love and faithfulness for me.  Thank you for being awesome!  I love you!

Prayer Share 113

Today’s scripture is Deuteronomy 6:20-25 from our Prayer Guide (Week 17, Day 3).
Dear gracious and powerful Savior, I come before you with praise and humility now. I remember how you freed me. I am free indeed. I am no longer a slave. Yet, I lived as a slave so long that I still act as a slave to sin. In my wilderness times I grumble. Sometimes I think of how comfortable I was in my slavery. I forget the misery of my captivity and entertain sinful thoughts. Protect me from myself. I will fill my heart with all the wonders you have done for me. I will fill my thoughts with who I am now as your child, saved from slavery to sin. I will not fight alone. I will stand ready as a soldier in your army. I will learn your words and wait for your commands. Protect me from the enemy when I am injured in battle or forget the lessons you have taught me. Comfort me in my wilderness travels and remind me who I am; I’m not a slave. I’m an adopted child, handpicked and chosen before the foundation of the earth, and brought out o f slavery into a victorious life. Praise You Lord!

Prayer Share 112

Today’s Scripture is Colossians 3:12-17 from our Prayer Guide (Week 15, Day 3).

Father, I choose today to live my life with a compassionate heart, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. I choose today to be forgiving, loving, and living in harmony with my brothers and sisters in Christ. I choose today to allow the peace of Christ to rule in my heart. I choose today to be thankful for God’s abundant blessings. I choose today to let the word of God to dwell within me. I choose today to direct my praise and thanksgiving to God. I choose today to do everything in the name of the Lord to His glory. All that I choose today I can not do in my own strength so I cry out to you to enable and empower me to be all I can be for your glory.

Prayer Share 112

Today’s scripture is Ephesians 2:14-22 from our Prayer Guide (Week 14, Day 5)

Thank you Lord for making us a part of the covenant people of God. You are our peace. Lord Jesus you are the cornerstone of our faith. You and you alone have given us access to God and made us citizens with all the saints. You are building us into a holy temple, a dwelling place for you. Let us be found a pure delight in your sight, joined together as one, a place where your Spirit may dwell.

Prayer Share 111

Father, all things are for the praise of your glory, our salvation and our inheritance. I thank you for the gospel that saves, that keeps, and glorifies us to the praise of your glory. Thank you for the Holy Spirit who is our guarantee of being kept safe until you call us all the way home.

You are a sovereign God who makes all things possible by your will and purpose. Father, I will continue to work hard at my salvation with fear and trembling. I will trust you’re working within me and you will be at work within me to accomplish your will and good pleasure in my life. Let it all be for your glory.

“ Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.” (Philippians 2:12-13 ESV)

Prayer Share 110

Today’s Scripture is John 14:15-31 from our Prayer Guide (Week 14, Day 2)
Jesus, thank you for giving your Holy Spirit to live within us forever.  He (the Holy Spirit) is our Helper, and we know that You are in us and that you love us.  You have given us the desire to follow your word and your commandments, and the Holy Spirit helps us.  You are alive, and we are alive spiritually, and we will live forever with you.
Thank you for making your home with us and teaching us all things.  Thank you for the peace we have received that we may not be afraid and troubled in this world.  We know that you are coming back for us, and nothing can happen to us until you are done with us on this earth.  And when we leave our mortal bodies and this earth, we will immediately be with you forever.  We know that you are with the Father, and we will see you soon.

Prayer Share 109

John 17
Father, I am so humbled every time I read Jesus’ prayer. He knew what awaited him in Jerusalem. As he faced the cross, he also knew the task the eleven faced to continue the ministry. I am grateful they held fast to the message of the Gospel and I pray your church will preach it boldly today. The apostles were able to remain united on it’s message and I pray we can remain united on the Gospel. Unite us Father, in order that you may receive all glory and honor. I pray for Israel because they watch the world events without the knowledge that the Messiah came over 2000 years ago. I am so grateful that I am counted among “those who have believed in Me (Christ) through their message.” Vs 20. Thank you Jesus for praying for us. May we glorify You as we remain unified and committed to the spread of the Gospel.

Prayer Share 108

I am praying about prayer this morning asking God to prepare my heart for four hours of extraordinary prayer. Father, turn my heart towards home, toward you as I seek your face. Give me this morning a kingdom focus that seeks your righteousness and your glory. I seek your will to be done, your purpose to be carried out, and your glory to shine throughout this dark world.

Father, I rejoice in Jesus. My joy and my life is His. I cast aside all of my anxieties but in everything with prayer and supplication, with joy and thanksgiving I prepare to come before your throne today and pray for your church, for the body of Christ. Glorify your church, prepare her as the glorious bride being ready for your return. I pray for each person who participates today that their hearts will be made ready to encounter you. I pray for the prayers of your people that they will go forth with great power, purpose, and not return void.

Lord, you told us you are going to be there, you will be at hand. Empower us today with your presence, your word, and your Holy Spirit. And may the God of Peace guard our hearts and our minds granting us peace beyond understanding as we pray.

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. (Ephesians 3:20-21 ESV)

Prayer Share 107

Holy and gracious heavenly Father, I come to you today with great humility. You grace is magnified by how greatly I fail you. I live my days failing you. Even my righteous acts fall so far short. But your grace, new every morning, fills me with joy and awe. I will never understand how great your love is. Please teach me to love others. Stretch me and all the believers around the world. Get us out of our comfort zone mind set and remind us of our true goal in life. Let us see all the opportunities you set in front of us to show others the joy and awe that we have in you. May your Spirit fill our lives and may we desire to live holy lives in everything we do. May my day glorify you in every way.

Prayer Share 106

I am not a member of First Baptist Church, but I am thankful for a special couple from the church. Encouraging friends that are helping me and encouraging me and praying for me. Thank you!

Prayer Share 105

The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul;
the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple;
the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart;
the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes;
the fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever;
the rules of the LORD are true, and righteous altogether.
More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold;
sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb.
Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward. Who can discern his errors? Declare me innocent from hidden faults. Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me! Then I shall be blameless, and innocent of great transgression. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight LORD, my rock and my redeemer.

Prayer Share 104

I am so thankful today for the dear saints of God. Thankful for their prayers, the kind words of encouragement, and expressions of love toward me. I thank my God who used His people to encourage and to lift me up to a higher ground. I thank God for my pastor, the small group Bible fellowships, Sunday school class teacher, for my prayer partner, my extraordinary, loving, compassionate wife, my daughter who loves her dad, and all those saints God sends our way to encourage. I especially thank our magnificent, marvelous, glorious, God who so abundantly pours out His blessings.

All that is within my being, bless the LORD!!! I am thankful to God who has blessed my soul. I give praise and thanksgiving to the God who forgives, heals, redeems, crowns, and pours out his love, mercy and goodness and renews my strength as that of an eagle. With each passing hour I find renewed strength. As I meditate upon your word this morning, Lord, you remind me of a song that becomes part of my prayer. I have no desire to remain where I am but to press on the upward way!

Higher Ground

I’m pressing on the upward way,
New heights I’m gaining every day;
Still praying as I’m onward bound,
“Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”

Lord, lift me up and let me stand,
By faith, on Heaven’s tableland,
A higher plane than I have found;
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.

My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise and fears dismay;
Though some may dwell where those abound,
My prayer, my aim, is higher ground.

I want to live above the world,
Though Satan’s darts at me are hurled;
For faith has caught the joyful sound,
The song of saints on higher ground.

I want to scale the utmost height
And catch a gleam of glory bright;
But still I’ll pray till heav’n I’ve found,
“Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”

Prayer Share 103

Yes Lord, we live in days of evil and how I choose to walk is of great importance. Lord, help me to walk as a wise person in a corrupt world. I am surrounded by evil temptations and need your constant presence and help to keep my ways pure. Let the presence of Christ in my life be a shining light in the darkness of this world. Help me to understand how best to make good use of my time that many may come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Let your kingdom expand during this time of evil. Grant to me insight into your purposes.

I will seek your will and to be filled with the Holy Spirit. I will worship you, sing your praises, and give thanksgiving to you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. You are my rock and my fortress, the keeper of my salvation.

I love you, O LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies. Psalm 18:1-3 ESV

I am reminded by Drew’s blog Lord, “A Mighty Fortress is Our God”, how timely is this hymn for the day in which we live.

A mighty Fortress is our God,
A Bulwark never failing;
Our Helper He amid the flood
Of mortal ills prevailing:
For still our ancient foe
Doth seek to work us woe;
His craft and power are great,
And, armed with cruel hate,
On earth is not his equal.

Did we in our own strength confide,
Our striving would be losing;
Were not the right Man on our side,
The Man of God’s own choosing:
Dost ask who that may be?
Christ Jesus, it is He;
Lord Sabaoth His Name,
From age to age the same,
And He must win the battle

And though this world, with devils filled,
Should threaten to undo us,
We will not fear, for God hath willed
His truth to triumph through us:
The Prince of Darkness grim,
We tremble not for him;
His rage we can endure,
For lo! his doom is sure,
One little word shall fell him.

That word above all earthly powers,
No thanks to them, abideth;
The Spirit and the gifts are ours
Through Him who with us sideth:
Let goods and kindred go,
This mortal life also;
The body they may kill:
God’s truth abideth still,
His Kingdom is forever.

Prayer Share 102

Today’s Scripture is Phil 4:4-9 from our Prayer Guide (Week 9, Day 7).
Dear Lord, what a great passage of scripture to turn to on this terrible morning in which our world is again reminded of the terrible existence of evil. You Lord have pointed me to yourself, “Rejoice in the Lord always”, You Lord are the source of my joy. You are the sovereign Lord and you are on your throne. The circumstances of this world is of no surprise to you. While we human beings wonder about what our future holds we know you are the one who holds our future and as I look to you I find my source of joy, hope, peace, love, and contentment in you and you alone. Father, joy is always available to me in the Lord regardless of the circumstances of life. Thank you Lord Jesus.

I pause here and pray Psalm 119:145-152 and James 5:7-11.

Your scripture says “the Lord is at hand”. You are ever present and will soon return. I seek your face this morning with prayer and supplication. You say to me ‘do not be anxious about anything” but rather to lift up my requests with thanksgiving. So I pause again and say a prayer of thanksgiving to you. I turn to yesterday’s scripture Psalm 97 and make it my prayer to you Lord.

Dear Lord, God of peace, guard my troubled heart and mind on this tragic morning. I pray for those who have been impacted by this terrible terror in Paris. I pray for all the world and the impact this has upon all of us. I know of no other place to turn but to you Lord. I turn to verse eight, Philippians 4:8, to think and meditate upon and immerse my thoughts upon those things you point me to. Oh dear God of peace fall down upon me as I think and mediate on these things. Guard my heart and mind and may all glory and honor be yours?

Prayer Share 101

Today, Lord, I come before you without as much enthusiasm as usual. You know my heart. You know I love you. You also know that some days aren’t all fireworks and parades. My prayer today is that you change that. Not that you give me such an exciting and emotional day, but that you fill my heart with the awe of your glory. Fill me with excitement about even the simple things you do to bless those who love you, and draw those who don’t know you. Put a new song in my heart today. A song about you Father. Ascribe, on my heart, the glory due you Holy name. Remind me all day what the focus of my life is. Ultimately, whatever You chose to do in my heart today, may I be faithful with that and bring glory to your name.

Prayer Share 100

Today’s scripture is Psalm 100 from our Prayer Guide (Week 9, Day 2):

Father, as I come before this morning, I praise you and thank you. You have made us, the chosen people of your sheepfold. You are the good shepherd who tends to me. You supply me with spiritual food, living water, and protection. You lead me down paths of righteousness by the still waters. You are constantly with me in the deep valleys, you take me to the mountain tops, you sought me when I went astray, and you are with me always. Thank you for seeking and saving me as I once was lost but know I am found. You poured out abundant life upon me and I greatly rejoice as I enter your presence and I sing with thanksgiving in my heart. I praise you for you are marvelous and magnificent, you alone are God.
I give you thanks and praise for your goodness, steadfast love, and faithfulness. Your goodness toward me is beyond measure. Your love poured out through your Son upon the cross is beyond comprehension. Your faithfulness in all things toward me is sure and certain. I love you my Lord and my God. I am eternally yours and you are mine. Let praise, thanksgiving, and worship be eternally upon my lips forever and forever.

Insert YOUR NAME in the scripture below:

Pray this over and over and over.  Have faith that God will do it.

Prayer Share 98

Father God, you have done so many amazing things in my life and the lives of those who love you. Don’t let us forget those things as we face our struggles. Be glorified in our victories and be glorified in how we confront our struggles. I am going to praise you for all the things you do and just for being who you are. Strengthen my resolve daily. Remind me of how you are always victorious. Open the eyes and hearts of those around me to understand how you have been victorious in my struggles. How you have held me in my dark times. How you have walked beside me daily and carry me when I can’t stand. Let the world be just as much in awe of your strength as I am. Allow me to be a messenger of your saving grace today.

Prayer Share 97

Today’s scripture is Psalm 95 from our Prayer Guide (Week 8, Day 1)
The LORD, the great God, the great King above all gods, holds me in His hand (v.7).  Selah!

Prayer Share 96

Today’s scripture is Psalm 95 from our Prayer Guide (Week 8, Day 1)

Father, today’s reading in verse seven you challenge us the people of your pasture, those who hear your voice, not to harden our hearts as they did in the wilderness. Father, open my eyes and my ears to hear and see your voice calling me to yourself. Open my heart to receive you into the innermost parts of my being. Let my will become your will. Renew my mind to take on the mind of Christ. Fill me with the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Change my behavior to be Christ like in every way. Let all be done for your glory, honor and praise.

As we come into your presence today, your people to worship you, may it be with thanksgiving, a joyful noise, and songs of praise. You are the great God, King above all gods, creator of all things, holy, and majestic. Prepare my heart that all of my worship of you today will be pleasing and acceptable in your sight.

Prayer Share 95

Job 42:1-6
Like Job, LORD, I know you can do anything. No plan of Yours can be thwarted. Your plan sent Your son to the cross for us. It made a way for us to be reconciled to you. Because of the cross we have more knowledge than Job and yet there is much I do not understand. I am so thankful for your Word, the privilege of prayer and the way you use it to inform and guide me. Thank you for grace that allows me to repent and receive forgiveness. Thank you for the restoration repentance brings to our fellowship. I acknowledge, I need you every hour.

Prayer Share 94

Insert your name and pray 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24.  Ask God to set you apart for his use – all of you – your spirit, soul and body.  Rely on Him to do it.  Respond appropriately as He begins to work in you.
Now may the God of peace himself sanctify YOUR NAME HERE completely, and may YOUR NAME HERE whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls YOUR NAME HERE is faithful; he will surely do it.

Prayer Share 93

In addition to the prayer guide scriptures, I have been praying (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 ESV) each day this week. I have been praying it as an intercession for myself, other individuals, and for the church body.

Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it. (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 ESV)

Heavenly Father of peace, sanctify completely your church, every part of it to become the beautiful bride of Christ. Let each member part of your bride the church, spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless. Let it be upon your return that your bride may be a beautiful reflection of Jesus Christ. Let your Lordship reign supreme in the lives of each member of the body. I trust in your faithfulness that you will bring it to reality. I am yours Lord, mold and make my spirit, soul, and body into the beautiful image of Jesus Christ for your glory. Then come quickly Lord Jesus.

Psalm 148 calls us to Praise the LORD. It is easy to praise you when answers prayer are evident. It is best if we learn to praise you when we are in the waiting room still awaiting an answer. For you are working then as well. Your creation understands it. But I,whom you created in your image,struggle to give you the praise you deserve. You are always in control and I am grateful. My desire is to be more intentional in praising you. You have given order to all things and that order will never pass away. Thank you for the comfort that knowledge gives.

Today my prayer is the very words of Psalm 148 followed by the Fanny Crosby hymn Praise Him, Praise Him.

Praise Him! Praise Him! Jesus, our blessed Redeemer!
Sing, O Earth, His wonderful love proclaim!
Hail Him! Hail Him! Highest archangels in glory;
Strength and honor give to His holy Name!
Like a shepherd, Jesus will guard His children,
In His arms He carries them all day long.
Praise Him! Praise Him! Tell of His excellent greatness;
Praise Him! Praise Him! Ever in joyful song!
Praise Him! Praise Him! Jesus, our blessed Redeemer!
For our sins He suffered, and bled, and died.
He our Rock, our hope of eternal salvation,
Hail Him! Hail Him! Jesus the Crucified.
Sound His praises! Jesus who bore our sorrows,
Love unbounded, wonderful, deep and strong.
Praise Him! Praise Him! Jesus, our blessed Redeemer!
Heav’nly portals loud with hosannas ring!
Jesus, Savior, reigneth forever and ever;
Crown Him! Crown Him! Prophet, and Priest, and King!
Christ is coming! over the world victorious,
Pow’r and glory unto the Lord belong.

Father, may your face shine upon us so that your way may be known upon the earth and you’re saving power among the people. Let we your people praise your wonderful name with gladness and joy. Let all gladness and joy flow to you from the ends of the earth

My prayer this morning is that your glory will shine upon me that I might become a reflection of you before a lost and dying world. That others may come to know Christ through my witness and testimony of your greatness. You have blessed me beyond measure and I sing a song of praise to you to you from a joyful heart. Let the following hymn be personalized in my life as I make it a prayer for this day.

Out in the highways and byways of life,
Many are weary and sad;
Carry the sunshine where darkness is rife,
Making the sorrowing glad.
Make me a blessing, make me a blessing,
Out of my life may Jesus shine;
Make me a blessing, O Savior, I pray,
Make me a blessing to someone today.

Tell the sweet story of Christ and His love,
Tell of His pow’r to forgive;
Others will trust Him if only you prove
True, every moment you live.

Give as ’twas given to you in your need,
Love as the Master loved you;
Be to the helpless a helper indeed,
Unto your mission be true.

Father, how good it was to have gathered with your people yesterday in a time of celebration. To leave your house of worship with glad hearts. To recount the great blessings you have poured out upon your people.

Now as I read Psalm 66, it begins with your people gathered singing your praise and counting your blessings toward Israel. Then individual worship telling of your greatness and answered prayer.

Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will tell what he has done for my soul. I cried to him with my mouth, and high praise was on my tongue. If I had cherished iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not have listened.

But truly God has listened; he has attended to the voice of my prayer. Blessed be God, because he has not rejected my prayer or removed his steadfast love from me! Psalm 66:16-20

I shout this morning HOW GREAT IS OUR GOD! Come and hear all that God has done and I will tell you of greater things he has yet to do. PTL

I Chronicles 29:10-20
Father, as I read David’s prayer of thanksgiving, I was overwhelmed by the parallel to our celebration today at FBC. I want to praise you for your faithfulness. You alone are worthy of all praise. Help us to never forget that everything belongs to you. We called this project “More than a Building”, and I pray we will remember why you have provided it for us. I pray Lord for the lives you will change through the ministries of our church. Like David, I pray you will continue to find our hearts (as you test them) upright and willing to give. Renew our hearts toward your purposes today as we celebrate all you have done in our midst. May our praise be pleasing in your sight and may you receive all the glory.

Prayer Share 87

We gather today in your presence with your people, to exalt the name of the Lord. We come before you today in great reverence, we seek to see your face, we come with rejoicing in our hearts, we gather in a spirit of thanksgiving and praise.

Father, we have experienced an out pouring of your good blessings upon us and we celebrate. Praise, thanksgiving, and glory belong to you and you alone. Pour out your peace upon us. Turn our hearts away from evil and deceit, focus our attention toward you Lord who has given and continues to give out of an abundance of great riches.

We confess our sins and seek your righteousness that your eyes and ears will be turned toward us. We humbly fall down before you. We enter your gates with grateful hearts we rejoice with song and singing, testimony, praise, thanksgiving, and worship. You are good, your steadfast love endures forever, you have been faithful throughout all generations.

[1] Bless the LORD, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
bless his holy name!
[2] Bless the LORD, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits,
[3] who forgives all your iniquity,
who heals all your diseases,
[4] who redeems your life from the pit,
who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
[5] who satisfies you with good
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. Psalm 103:1-5 ESV

Today’s scripture is Ephesians 6:23-24 from our Prayer Guide (Week 6, Day 6)

Father I confess this morning that “peace to the brothers” has fallen short of your glory in my life this week. My prayer begins with this confession to you praying that peace for all my brothers and sisters would increase in our church beginning with me. May the prince of peace reign supreme in me and in the life of our church.

Father, in this beautiful benediction love is mentioned three times. Grow my faith and saturate it with your love. May the love from God and from the Lord Jesus Christ so permeate my life that your grace would go forth from my life touching other lives in the most positive way. May my love for others be incorruptible and unstained by my selfish desires and ill motives. Make my love pure and sacrificial toward by brothers and sisters. In and of myself I am not capable of being the loving vessel you have called me to be. So I pray for a filling of your Spirit and give a total surrender to Christ so His love would shine forth as an encouragement to my brothers in sisters in Christ. I pray for an out pouring of grace in my life for the building up of the body of Christ and surrender a sacrificial love to your glory.

Father, as your church gathers this weekend to give thanks to you, to celebrate your mighty deeds in our midst, may those who attend see your love expressed through your saints. May your church take this opportunity to bring glory to you before our community. May you find delight and honor in our time of celebration.

I thank you Father for all those who have labored hard to make this weekend a God centered and God focused celebration. Remove all distractions that would be a hindrance to your glory shinning forth. Make us all small so you may be magnified and glorified in this time of celebration.

Purify my soul Lord!!! ”Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart, [23] since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God;” (1 Peter 1:22-23 ESV)

Purify me Lord that I may see you, to see you and for others to see more of you in me. “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. (Matthew 5:8 ESV)

Fill me with your pure wisdom so I might be filled with the fruit of peace, gentleness, reason, and mercy. May I be found impartial and sincere, bearing good fruits for your glory. Make me an instrument of your peace. “But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.” (James 3:17-18 ESV)

Today’s scripture is… Galatians 5:2-15 from our Prayer Guide (Week 6, Day 5).

Father, you have set me free, free from sin (not free to sin) and free to love one another. This freedom in which I live was bought for me with a precious price, Jesus Christ dying on the cross. The freedom I now experience is Christ living in me and me in Christ. My prayer is that today your love through Christ may manifest itself through me, and that others would come to know this same freedom. May your love working through me bring glory to your name and further your kingdom.

Prayer Share 84

Father, I praise you for the work I see in your beloved saints. Yesterday our church was flooded with servants who came to serve. There was joy and a great spirit among your people. Their work of love yesterday demonstrated the greatness of your salvation being worked out in their lives. I thank you for all of them.
There was nothing sluggish about their work as they earnestly pressed on to prepare for this coming weekend celebration. Preparation to present before our community your handiwork in our midst. May their fruit of service glorify you and the name of Jesus be exalted in this weekend celebration.
Father, we have a great hope that is found in you and you alone. Your people have a hope and a future established by their faith. May that hope and future be shared with those who join us this weekend that they also may come to surrender by faith to the lordship of Jesus Christ. May our celebration be focused on you by giving praise and thanksgiving for your abundant blessings. Father, may this weekend be all about you and you alone.

Today’s scripture is… 1 Thes 1:2-10 from our Prayer Guide (Week 6, Day 3).
Father, may our church be like the one we read about today.  May our works be done in faith and love, empowered by your Holy Spirit. May we have great patience, even in the face of persecution, as we have hope in you and a certain future because of your choosing us. Imagine that: we have been chosen by the King of Kings to be with you forever and ever! WOW!
Help us Lord to be your true followers and true disciples. Help us to live lives that are seen as examples by others. Help us to reflect you to everyone who looks our way, and help us to tell with our mouths of your free gift of salvation and abundant, eternal life. Take the news of our election and works of faith, hope and love to many people. Let us not hide your light under a basket, for we are unspeakably thankful for you coming to us, turning us away from our idols, and causing us to love and serve the one true and living God while we wait for Jesus’ return.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Today’s scripture is… 1 Thes 1:2-10 from our Prayer Guide (Week 6, Day 3).

Father, I rejoice in the work of faith, the labor of love, and the steadfastness of hope that I see in the saints at FBCA. I thank you Lord for how you have worked in the lives of your people and I constantly lift them up to you that you will continually strengthen them with your power and might. Father, I pray they will continue to grow and increase in this faith and love.

Father, your chosen ones are establishing a culture of evangelism within the body of Christ by which they are living their lives not only in word but also in deed. I see your hand moving by the power of the Holy Spirit changing our lifestyle to be more like Christ. We rejoice in the great outpouring of your Spirit. My prayer Father, let your glory so fill your people that the world around us will see Christ in us. May your glory in our midst continue to increase as it did in Thessalonica. May the light of Christ so brightly shine that others will see the hope of Christ in us. I ask that the community will hear the gospel of God’s redeeming love and recognize their sinful ways and confess and repent. Father, may your church become a transforming force in the city of Athens that will carry on to the nations. Father, something great happened in Thessalonica that I pray will happen at FBCA. They became a great example for all the churches to follow. I see in 1 Th essalonians 1:8 a summary of our vision statement at FBCA. Mold us into the kind of outreach that existed in this great church at Thessalonica that the gospel will be heard around the world. May it all be for your glory and praise that it will happen.

Prayer Share 81

Today’s scripture is… 2 Thes 1:1-4 from our Prayer Guide (Week 6, Day 2):

Father, just as Paul prayed for the church I pray also for grace and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ for the saints at FBCA. I give you thanks for my brothers and sisters in Christ and for the faith and love they demonstrate for one another. I pray that our faith and love continues to increase and to grow.

I see the church in America coming under continued attack and pray for the same kind of steadfastness and faith that existed in Thessalonica will exist in the church across America to endure persecution and afflictions and bring glory to your name. Father, make your church strong in the power of your might that it will stand firm against Satan’s attack. May we as your church be a light casting out darkness across this great land. Let us be truly the salt of the earth. Bring your church to confession and repentance for their sins, prune away the dead branches that we may produce abundant fruit for your glory. Press upon our hearts to take the gospel into the world for it alone has the power to save and transform lives. Father, we will glorify you when we make disciples of all nations. Be glorified in your church at FBCA as the gospel is proclaimed, in the city of Athens, in the state of Tennessee, In America, in all the nations.

Today’s scripture is 2 Thes 1:11-12 from our Prayer Guide (Week 6, Day 1).

Father, I serve in many roles.  I am a husband.  I am a father.  I am a businessman.  I am a friend.  I am a son.  But, these are just roles.  These do not define who I am.  Since you sought me out and helped me see my lost condition, and caused me to surrender my heart to your beloved son Jesus Christ, my identity has changed.  I am now a blood-bought, redeemed, child of God; a Christian; a little Christ.  I have passed from death to everlasting, abundant life, and you have added yourself to me.  You did all of this for me, and it was not of my own doing, nor do I deserve such grace.

I thank you with every fiber of my being for placing your spirit within me and your seal upon me. Help me to walk closely with you day by day and to walk worthy of your calling.  May I allow you to mold me and shape me and use me for your glory.  Strengthen my faith with your power.  Fill me to overflowing with your spirit.  Do mighty works through me by your great power and put your glory on display.  You are awesome and mighty.  Show the world your greatness through your redeemed children I pray, Amen!

Prayer Share 79

Father, we are a people who live by faith and we ask that our faith be empowered by Your greatness according to the grace of our Loud Jesus Christ. Only when we put our faith and trust in You, only as we submit fully to Your will allowing you to control our lives and the life of Your church will we bring glory to Your name. So this morning I surrender my life to this end. Forgive me for my sins. Mold me and shape me, remove all that hinders me from being all You want me to be so that Christ may shine through my life.

On this Sunday morning may our gathering together honor You in our fellowship together in Your word, in our worship, in the preaching of Your word, and may the name of Christ be glorified. We thank You for the mighty movement of Your Holy Spirit last week and we pray Your Spirit will move upon us again this week. As I bow before You on this Lord’s day I express my love to You knowing that my love for You pales into insignificance compared to the love You poured out in and through Your Son. So as best I can I express my love to You by words, by the way I live my life, and by my obedience to You. Oh, that I might live a life worthy of Your calling by the good I strive to do empowered by Your mighty and powerful grace and for Your glory.
