Children’s Ministries

The focus of the Children’s Ministry at First Baptist Athens is…JESUS!!   From the Sunday School small groups to KidSing Choirs, to AWANA, to special events throughout the year, it’s all about Jesus!

Our desire is to

partner with parents in training up children in the Lord (Prov. 22:6). Therefore, we strive to offer the best programs in the safest environment to teach children the Bible and what following Jesus is all about.

SonRock Kid’s Camp 2017

Our children’s ministry is based on these verses:

Deuteronomy 4:39-40. “Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the Lord is God in heaven above and earth below.  There is no other.  Keep His decrees and commands, which I am giving you today.  Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them slip from your heart as long as you live.  Teach them to your children and their children after them.”

Our Leadership Plan:
Leaders will prepare, love and pray that our children be directed to Jesus!

Thank you for allowing us to partner with you in training up your children to know and love the Lord.

Grab your pom-poms, lace up your cleats, and tune up your horn.  It’s time to gear up for the big game!  It’s go time!!  Whether you are the type to root from the stands, march in the band, cheer on the field, or hustle to the line, the time is NOW—IT’s GAME ON!!

Kids are under so much pressure –  to perform well, to be the best, to balance schedules that are full to the brim, to excel in every arena.  From that vantage point, life’s big game can seem like no fun.  But when we step back, we realize that the goal is not competing in our own strength.  God has already given us everything we need!  He has given us His complete Word as the ultimate playbook.  He has given us Himself , which gives us a reason to celebrate.  He wants us to join His team, to train hard, to celebrate our salvation, to encourage one another, and to spur each other on. So what are you waiting for?  This is VBS week—Spirit Week 2018.  It’s Game On!  See you Monday morning, June 4 at 9 a.m.!

Join us for SonRock Kid’s Camp at Camp Cherokee for Bible Study, wood craft, scavenger hunts, Bible Science interactive lessons, large group worship times, drama, swimming, canoeing, horseback riding, Nerf tournament, zip line, slack line, disc golf, all kinds of games, laughter, great food!  We are excited to announce we will be having Family Night this year at 5:45 p.m. Thursday for dinner and final celebration for parents and kids before going home that night!  (Rumors are circulating that the Mayfield Ice Cream Truck will be there to help end a fantastic week!)

On June 18, you will meet an amazing team of youth, college, and adult leaders at FBC Athens to embark on this exciting adventure!  You may register on-line at www.  – just click on the Kid’s Camp banner and it will take you straight to the registration page.  Once you have registered, we will have a complete packet with detailed info and medical permission forms for your parents to complete and return before you go.  You may also register in paper form in the church office.

Camp begins Monday morning, June 18.  Bus will depart FBCA at 8:30 so be here early to get your gear loaded up!

1st and 2nd Grade (just completed) will be day campers.  You will leave the church Monday – Thursday mornings at 8:30 on the bus with your Day Camp Counselors and return at 3:30 (except for Thursday, when you get to stay all day until your parents come for Family Night Dinner and Celebration!)

3rd –  6th Grade are invited to be over-night campers. (Or Day Campers)  You will also meet bright and early Monday morning to load up and will return home with your families on Thursday evening.

We work hard to provide an excellent experience at the most reasonable cost possible, so the cost for camp this year is:

    $100 for day camper

    $145 for over-nighters

This includes all food, Bible Study materials, Bible science supplies, craft supplies, recreation costs, a water bottle, camp t-shirt, and this year a backpack too!
