Today’s Sermon:

The Songs of Christmas

By Dr. Bill Henard

Ave Maria: Elizabeth’s Song Luke 1:26-45

One of the most powerful experiences that we have in life is music. We all have probably heard a song that grabbed our hearts – or brought encouragement to our weary souls – or spoke a word of biblical truth that sustains us even to this day. That’s what we find in the songs of Christmas. Within the biblical story, God reveals songs of celebration that were shared by those who experienced the birth of our Savior. This first song celebrates the announcement of Christ’s birth. When we experience the birth of our Savior, it brings great blessing to our lives. Here’s how.

1. The Message of Christmas Out to All People.

  • 26 the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth

2. The Message of Christmas Us of the Promises of God.

  • 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High

3. The Message of Christmas                          Us to Trust God.

  • 34 Mary asked the angel, “How can this be, since I have not been intimate with a man?”

4. The Message of Christmas Blessing to Our Lives.

  • 42 “You are the most blessed of women, and your child will be blessed!”

Takeaway: The call on our lives now is to trust Him. What is it or where is it that you need to trust God? Trust Him – believe Him – He won’t let you down and when you do, He will bring great blessing – of hope, of peace, and of well-being – to your life.
