Today’s Sermon:

The Songs of Christmas

Benedictus: Zechariah’s Song

Luke 1:67-79

by:  Dr. Bill Henard

We speak often of living by faith rather than by sight – according to Scripture, we are more blessed when we do.  But do you realize that God has given us times of sight in order to build our faith?  That’s the point of Christ’s coming to earth. Instead of staying distant and separated from us, He came to this earth to dwell with us; and thus, our faith has some sight.  That’s the point of Zechariah’s song – God has come to us. Notice what it teaches us.

  1. Jesus Redeemed Us.
v.68 He has visited and provided redemption for His people.

  1. Jesus Delivered Us from Satan’s Captivity.
v.69 He has raised up a horn of salvation for us

  1. Jesus Canceled Our Debt.
v.77  to give His people knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins

  1. Jesus Brought Peace to Our Lives.
v.79 to guide our feet into the way of peace

Takeaway: Jesus came to this earth in order to redeem us, to deliver us, to forgive us, and to bless us with His peace.  What steps can you take today to help you trust Christ better?
