Today’s Sermon:

Identity: Sealed by the Spirit

by:  Dr. Bill Henard

Ephesians 1:13-14

First Thoughts:  One of the most debated and perhaps difficult doctrines to understand is what is called Eternal Security. Yet, the Bible is filled with references to fact that, because Christ saves us, He also keeps us. Paul’s description is one of the most compelling. Because of the work of the Father and the Son in salvation, the Spirit now has sealed you. Here’s what it does for us:

  • You Know that You Are Saved.
    • Verse 1:13 In Whom you were also sealed . . . when you believed

  • You Know that You Are Secure.
    • Verse 1:14 the Holy Spirit is the down payment of our inheritance

Takeaway: The primary purpose of eternal security is to release us so that we can go out and serve Christ. We don’t serve in order to stay saved; we serve because we are saved. Where in your walk with Christ do you need to find greater security and trust? How can you better serve Christ today knowing that you are secure in Him?
