Today’s Sermon:

Identity: Sharing in the Riches of Christ

by:  Dr. Bill Henard

Ephesians 1:15-23

First Thoughts:

Part of the blessings that God gives us is that He has provided everything we need in order to live the Christian life. This opportunity comes through the riches of His glory. As Paul prays for these believers in Ephesus, he gives the challenge to draw upon God’s provision in order to discover the depth of what God has for us in Christ. Here’s how: If you are going to draw upon all that God has for you, you must . . .

Follow the Path for Receiving These Riches.

  • Paul mentions 2 things:

  1. Trust in Christ as Savior. 1:15 after I heard of your faith
  2. Put Your Faith into Action. 1:16 your love for all the saints

Draw Upon the Benefits of These Riches.

  • Paul says that we can know and experience 4 things:

  1. Christ’s Person. 1:17 revelation in the knowledge of Him
  2. Christ’s Purpose. 1:18 the hope of His calling
  3. Christ’s Possession. 1:18 His inheritance in the saints
  4. Christ’s Power. 1:19 the exceeding greatness of His power

When you put your faith in Christ and start practicing your faith, you will discover the bounty of riches waiting for you to live the Christian life. Where in your life do you find that you struggle or are defeated? As part of your identity in Christ, how do you need to draw upon His person, His purpose, His possession, and His power?
