Missions Commissioning

Austin O [Full Name Redacted] will be serving this summer for 6 weeks in a CREATIVE ACCESS Country. These are countries that used to be called “Closed”, but have been renamed because nothing is closed to our God. It just means that we have to be creative in our mission strategy for entering these countries. Austin will be teaching English as his point of access into this country, but will have the main goal of building relationships and sharing the good news of Jesus there. Please be in prayer for Austin as he travels and does gospel work this summer.

More Missions Commissioning

This week we will send out 2 Vision Trips from our church. The purpose of a Vision Trip is so we can explore short-term mission opportunities for viability before fully committing ourselves to a future partnership with a mission organization or missionary. The Appalachia trip will be in the Copper Basin area from June 22-25 and we will be partnering with Ninth and O Baptist Church from Kentucky and local missionary Jason Dublin. Then, the Ecuador team will go from June 25-July 3 to serve with Dr. David Sills and Reaching and Teaching International Ministries. Please be in prayer for these teams as they search the Lord’s will in future mission partnerships in these areas. We are also gathering with others to send out Chad and Alicia Byers as they will be serving at a mission camp in Alaska beginning in September.

Operation Christmas Child

It is time to start planning for Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes. June has been designated as the “boy” month. Please buy any items that are suitable for boys such as such as underwear, t-shirts, and socks and toys such as small cars, balls, harmonicas, yo-yos, Etch-a-Sketch, Slinky, paddle balls, puzzles, play-dough, small Frisbees, big over-sized balloons, jacks, flashlights, small tools for older boys (screwdrivers, all-purpose tools, measuring tapes). Remember, these are only suggestions; be creative! Please place them in the boxes located in the Atrium and the Vestibule.

Kids Camp

is this week June 20-24. Please be in prayer for our children as they spend time growing in understanding of God and for our leaders and counselors as they guide these children toward God and His Word.

Youth Mission Camp Sponsorship

If anyone would like to help out our Student Ministry and sponsor a student for their upcoming trip to Florida, please contact Pastor Drew by email [drew@fbcathens.com] or the church office.

Missions:

Allison Bernhard will be serving this summer in Victoria, British Columbia with the Bond Family. Matthew Bond formerly served on staff here and along with his wife Heather they are now missionaries in the Vancouver area. They have planted a church called Ekklesia and use the summers as a strategic time to build relationships with locals so that they can share the good news of Jesus with them. Allison will be helping coordinate sports camps and Bible camps this summer so that Matthew and Heather will have even more face time with those in their community. Please be in prayer for them as they share the good news in this area where there is little gospel influence.
