I’m thinking of visiting First Baptist…

Sunday School starts at 9:30 am and are a time of Bible study and prayer. These groups end around 10:30 am. Our morning worship service starts at 10:45 am. The services involve singing, prayer, and a time of teaching from the Bible. Services generally end before noon.

Where exactly is the church?

We are in Downtown Athens at the corner of Hwy. 30 (Green Street) and Ingleside Avenue. We’re hard to miss – Look for the steeple!

Where do I park?

We have plenty of parking on the church grounds, including reserved parking for visitors. Feel free to park anywhere in the parking lot and make your way to the entrance closest to the playground. Someone will be at the door to greet you.

Where do I go first?

If you are planning to join us for Sunday School (9:30 am), first visit our Welcome Center in the Atrium. Our greeters will be there to meet you and help you get where you need to go for your class. Once you enter through the door closest to the playground, you will see the welcome center directly in front of you in our Atrium. If you are planning to join us for a Worship Service (10:45 am), you are welcome to enter from either our Atrium or at the front of the church (under the steeple). Our ushers and staff will be waiting there for you.

What about my kids?

We’re excited about having children involved in the life of our church. We have a fun, exciting, and secure children’s wing where your kids can participate in their own Sunday School Classes. Loving Child Care is provided during all services. If you have a question about childcare, feel free to contact us. We want you and your children to have an enjoyable experience at FBC Athens.

What should I wear?

There is no dress code for worship. We invite you to come as you are. Some men choose to wear suits, while others wear jeans, and  others prefer to wear their shorts in the Summer. We want you to feel comfortable coming to worship with us, no matter what you prefer to wear on Sunday Morning.

What should I expect?

You should expect an inter-generational church that enjoys worshiping God with a variety of music. You should expect to hear a sermon from God’s Word. You should expect to be encouraged and amazed at the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our services typically last about an hour. Finally, you should expect to be welcomed. We would love for you to come and worship with us.
