Identity: Unity In Christ Ephesians 3:7-12
First Thoughts: One of the distinguishing marks of believers is unity within the church. Because it is a distinguishing mark, it obviously is difficult to attain and maintain; in other words, Satan is going to attack believers and our unity. Unity, however, opens the door for us to fulfill specific purposes that God has for the church and for you specifically as a believer. When we commit to unity (putting our own desires aside for the greater purpose of the church) several things happen.
I. We Can Serve Our Community. 7 I was made a servant of this gospel by the gift of God’s grace
II. We Can Reach the Nations. 8 This grace was given to me—the least of all the saints—to proclaim to the Gentiles the incalculable riches of Christ
III. We Can Grow in Faith. 9 and to shed light for all about the administration of the mystery
IV. We Can Gather to Worship. 12 In him we have boldness and confident access through faith in him
Takeaways: • In these difficult times, how will you best use your time at home to prepare yourself for the ministry that God has for you? • Who do you know who is outside of Christ whose heart might now be open? • Who could you serve in Christ? • How do you need to draw upon Christ’s power so that you can grow in your faith and become the Christian God wants you to be? • How do you need to prioritize worship in the coming days and months and prepare for the challenges of being a worshipper?
