Weekly Update - 8.10.20

Good afternoon everyone! We had a wonderful worship service at the Drive-in yesterday. Our church had the opportunity to observe baptism as a young girl shared her decision to follow Jesus with the entire congregations. There was so much joy in her face when folks in their cars blew their horns in excitement for her decision! We are grateful for this little one and the work God has done in her heart. Fortunately, the journey doesn't end there. Here are a few other things worth of noting for the coming week:
Many folks have asked about where we will be having our church worship service on Sunday, August 16th. The staff has met and felt that moving back to our facility is a great move for a couple of reasons: we have purchased air purifiers/sanitizers for use in the building both during and after occupancy, we will tape off every other pew once again to help with distancing, all surfaces will be sanitized before and after the service, and the unpredictable weather conditions could be problematic at the Drive-in if we continue there. We feel returning to our facility will allow us to take proper precautions to keep everyone safe and together. As always, please sanitize your hands when you enter and exit the building. Masks are available at the Welcome Desk if you would like/need one. Use your discretion as to whether you wear a mask or not. We want you to feel safe and protected as we gather together to worship.
We are also moving our Sunday school relaunch back to Sunday, Sept. 13th. The church staff feels that this will be a better start time. The air purifiers will be running in the building while it is occupied, and they will run in sanitizing mode while vacant. Cleaning protocols will be in place to insure that surfaces are sanitized as well. Please help spread to word to your Sunday school class about this revised meeting day. We are looking forward to getting started soon. Sunday school TEACHERS: your curriculum has been delivered to the church. We are working on a way to deliver it to you or have a specific time to pick it up at church.
Full Circle Medical Center for Women will be holding a silent auction online via Facebook on Thursday, August 27th from 12-7pm. You can find it at www.facebook.com/friendsoffullcircle.
If you are new to FBC Athens, we would love for you to attend our Discover First class that introduces you to the ministry of FBC. Our next class will be on Sunday, August 30th at 10:30 am (following the Sunday service). Lunch will be served so please RSVP by calling the office at (423) 745-5441.
Finally, thank you all for your continued prayers and support. While no one knows exactly how things are going to look with all the uncertainty, we have certainly appreciated your prayers and encouragement. We are leading as the Lord leads us. We love you all and are in continued prayer for you and your families. Thank you!
Blessings,
