Our Vision.  Our Mission.  Our Goal.

At First Baptist Athens, we have a God-given vision and are constantly “on mission” for the gospel of Jesus Christ.  How refreshing it is to wake up each morning already knowing the broad strokes of our purpose for the day.  Then we go out into the world, to our jobs and responsibilities, and the vision and the mission and the goal are continually before us and keep us grounded in purpose.  What a wonderful way to live life!  Thank you Jesus!

Vision – Glorifying God

1 Cor. 10:31 says, “…whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”  Therefore, we want God to be glorified through all of our programs, ministries, and gatherings.

Mission – Making Disciples

Matthew 28:19-20 says, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.”   Therefore, we want to become and make disciples. According to Matthew 4:19 which says, “And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men,” disciples will have 3 characteristics:

-A disciple is one who follows Jesus

-A disciple is one who is being changed by Jesus

-A disciple is one who is committed to the mission of Jesus

Goal – Reaching Nations

Jesus said, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.”  Our goal is to take the gospel to our neighbors AND to the nations.
