I’m thinking of visiting First Baptist…

When should I come?

Perhaps the best time for a first visit is Sunday Morning. Sunday School (Small Groups) start at 9:30 am and are a time of Bible study and prayer. These groups end around 10:30 am. Our morning worship service starts at 10:45 am.  The services are uplifting and friendly and generally end before Noon. We are excited that you are planning to visit!

Where exactly is the church?

We are in Downtown Athens at the corner of Hwy. 30 (Green Street) and Ingleside Avenue. We’re hard to miss –  Look for the steeple!

Where do I park?

We have plenty of parking on the church grounds, including reserved parking for visitors. Valet parking is also available if needed.

Where do I go first?

For Sunday Small Groups (9:30 am), first visit our Welcome Center in the Atrium. Our greeters will be there to meet you and help you get where you need to go with a smile.  For Worship Service (10:45 am), you are welcome to enter from our Atrium or at the front of the church (under the steeple).  Our ushers and staff will be waiting there for you.

What about my kids?

We love kids, and we have a fun, exciting and secure children’s wing where your kids can participate in their own Sunday Small Groups and/or Children’s Church during the worship hour.  Loving Child Care is provided during all services. The Children’s wing entrance is adjacent to the Welcome Center (see map).

Kids love us!  They will receive lots of kindness and attention and be taught on their level about the love of Jesus.  It’s really fun and exciting for the kids!

What should I wear?

You will see anything from jeans to suits for the men, and women generally wear slacks or dresses from “dressy” to “business casual.”  There’s no need to buy a new outfit. Please come as you are!

What should I expect?

You should expect a happy and joyful group of people joining together in a casual and comfortable setting with united hearts to worship God. You will see and hear Jesus Christ magnified as Savior, Redeemer, and Friend.  You will hear beautiful music and singing as we worship God in preparation for the opening of God’s Word.  And you will hear the gospel of Jesus Christ preached in love. You will leave refreshed and energized and better prepared to take on the world, for anyone who meets with Jesus will leave better than before.  Please join us.
