Adult Ministries

Sunday School Small Groups – 9:30 am

Sunday School is the foundational strategy in our church for leading people to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and building Great Commission Christians through open Bible study groups that engage people in evangelism, discipleship, ministry, fellowship, and worship.

This requires Christians to have a biblical world-view.  We can not have a biblical world-view unless we know what God’s Word, teaches. Our Sunday School Ministry provides a wonderful opportunity for adults to learn more about God’s teachings and promises.

Our Adult Sunday School Ministry is more than just studying the Bible, however. It provides a channel for building relationships and opportunities for meeting needs. We know that people are not only looking for a “friendly” church; people are looking for friends!

Sunday School classes are generally “classified” by age, gender, marital status, and/or “stage of life,” and they vary in size, teaching style, and demographics. People are encouraged to visit various classes until they find one right for them.

Men’s Bible Study Groups

This Men’s Ministry equips and energizes men to become spiritual leaders in the home, workplace, church, and community. Several groups meet early in the morning during the week.

Women’s Ministry

First Baptist Athens’s Women’s Ministry is designed to nurture women as we gather for interaction with God, His Word, and one another.  We represent all ages and stages in life, so there are plenty of opportunities for learning, encouragement, and refreshment at our Bible studies and special events. Everything we plan is designed to help each of us live a joyful, purpose-filled life.

Prayer is more than a spiritual discipline, more than a planned event, and more than lifting praises and requests to God. First Baptist Athens Prayer Ministry is designed to help you communicate with God through prayer.  Through our prayer ministry, we are committed to pray for you and your loved ones. Sunday morning at 8:30 am we meet at the church for a time of corporate prayer in our upstairs prair room. We would be happy to have you join us.
