Who We Are
First Baptist Church Athens was founded 200 years ago in 1824. Since that time, our church has sat atop the hill overlooking downtown Athens, and our members have faithfully served this city through a civil war, population booms, pandemics, & everything in between. We are currently a congregation of several hundred believers trying to build on the proud legacy of our forefathers & expand the Kingdom of God.
Mission
Our mission is to be a Church that gathers faithfully, that grows in the word, that serves as Christ served, and that reaches the nations. This is how First Baptist Athens is made a home for your heart with a heart for the world.
Vision
Our vision is for everyone to enjoy the eternal life that comes with a saving faith in Christ. In the context of our church, we do this by striving to bring revival to East Tennessee. We have a particular focus on young adults & young families, who are turning away from the church at an alarming rate.
